Sharp & Sons Barbers · Chester · Est. 2011

The shop

Three barbers, one bench, and a lot of regulars.

We're not a chain and we're not trying to be. Sharp & Sons is a family business, and most of the people in the chairs have been coming for years.

How it started

Frank Sharp served his apprenticeship in the 1980s and spent twenty years working other people's shops before taking on the lease at number 14 in 2011. The unit had been a barbershop, a cobbler's, and briefly a sandwich bar — but the old barber's pole bracket was still bolted to the wall, so it felt like the right thing to do.

His sons Joe and Callum trained with him and stayed. On a Saturday you'll usually find all three working, plus a pot of coffee that never quite goes cold.

Forty years in, still sharpest on a classic short back and sides and a straight-razor neck finish.

The one to see for fades, textured crops and anything that needs a bit of shape. Books up first.

Great with kids and first-timers, and quietly the best beard man in the shop.
